Course Outline RB Basic Rigging COURSE IN RIGGING BASIC - Click here to preview Assessment Instrument Aims This course is designed to give participants the knowledge and skills required to safely and efficiently perform basic rigging. The course covers regulations, safety requirements, steel erection, crane loading platforms, winch operations, reeving, knots, splicing and sling selection. Qualification & Recognition National competency assessment is included in the course and participants who successfully meet these competencies are eligible to apply to the Worksafe for their Certificate in Basic Rigging (RB). This National Card is recognised Australia wide. Job Prospects Holders of basic rigging certificates may work in the building and maintenance industry, construction sites, and mining industry. Opportunities for Further Study Basic Rigging can lead to further skilled training for qualifications in Intermediate Rigging. Who Can Apply Those who have successfully completed a course in dogging or its equivalent. To be eligible for an assessment of competency and issue of a Workcover Certificate, a person must be at least 18 years of age. Documentary evidence and proof of age is required before assessment. Course Location a Duration This course is run over 3 days depending on experience, and is normally conducted at a Worksafe Training Centre location. However courses can also be arranged at any required location, and can also be conducted at nights or over weekends if necessary. Course Content

RIGGING BASIC FORMULAS Section One: Fleet Angles Task I Distance to lead block = Drum Width ÷ 2 X Fleet Angle Ratio Example: 600 ÷ 2 X 12 = 3.6 metres Groove Drum = 12 Fleet Angle Ratio Plain Drum = 19 Fleet Angle Ratio Section Two: Loads in Running Gear Task 2: Load in Lead Rope Becket Load = Total Load on lower block ÷ Number of Parts in Purchase Example:7 tonne ÷ 6 = 1.166 = BL = 1.17 Lead Load = BL + (BL X Number of Sheaves X Friction) Example: 1.17 + (1.17 X7 ÷ 20) = 1.5795 = 1.6 tonne |
