Course Outline RI Rigging Intermediate COURSE IN INTERMEDIATE RIGGING Aims This course is designed to introduce trainees to the basic skills associated with the slinging, movement and placing of loads, including tilt-up panels, demolition rigging. multiple crane lifting and the rigging of cranes and hoists. Qualifications & Recognition National competency assessment is included in the course and participants who successfully meet these competencies are eligible to apply to the Worksafe for their Certificate in Intermediate Rigging (RI). This National Card is recognised Australia wide. Opportunities for Further Study A Intermediate Rigging certificate can lead to further skills training for qualifications in advanced rigging. Job Prospects Holders of intermediate rigging certificates may work in areas where cranes or lifting equipment are used eg construction sites, building sites, transport depots, off-shore and mining industry. Who Can Apply Those interested in Intermediate Rigging, who have already completed a Basic Rigging qualification or equivalent. Prerequisites Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of the English Language to enable them to perform their work safely. To be eligible for an assessment of competency and issue of a Worksafe Certificate a person must be at least 18 years of age. Documentary evidence and proof of age is required before assessment. Course Location a Duration This course is run over 3 days depending on experience, and is normally conducted at a Worksafe Training Centre location. However courses can also be arranged at any required location, and can be conducted at nights or over weekends if desired. Starting Dates Courses commence throughout the year RIGGING INTERMEDIATE FORMULAS Task1: Dual Lift 6- [Crane Capacity X 6 ÷ (W1 + W2 X 1.2)] = Distance of slinging point from first crane W1 = Weight at the Load W2 = Weight of the Equalising Beam 1.2 = Safety Factor 6 = The distance between the two crane lifting points Task 2: Capacity of Second Crane Total Weight ÷ 6 X Answer to Task 1 = Total capacity of the second crane. Task 3; Minimum Crane Movement 1 Hoist 2 Luff up 3 lower Section Two Task 4: Tilt-Slab Friction 2 X 2 Rigging Sling Length = 2 X D Task 5 4 X 1 Rigging Sling Length = 3 X C + D Task 6 2 X 4 Rigging Sling Length for 4 Slings = 3 X D Sling Length for 2 slings = 4.5 X D or 4.5 X E Whichever is the greater measurement of the two. |
